Wszystko wskazuje na to, że jeszcze dziś (tj. 18 grudnia) zadebiutuje Boeing 737-800NG od PMDG w natywnej wersji dla Microsoft Flight Simulatora 2024. Premierze tej jednak towarzyszy sporo kontrowersji.

Od momentu ogłoszenia prac nad nową wersją Boeinga 737-800NG PMDG utrzymuje, że produkt ten musi zostać gruntownie przebudowany, a obecni użytkownicy tego samolotu do MSFS-a 2020 otrzymają możliwość płatnej aktualizacji. Zgodnie z zapewnieniami szefa PMDG Roberta Randazzo, cena aktualizacji nie powinna przekroczyć „kosztu kilku kaw”.

– 737-800NG dla MSFS 2024 to gruntowna modernizacja naszej wcześniejszej linii produktów, zbudowana od podstaw, aby wykorzystać możliwości MSFS 2024. Podstawowy pakiet technologii 737 przenosi całą niesamowitą, profesjonalną głębię symulacji do MSFS 2024 z naciskiem na możliwości oferowane przez nową platformę – informuje Randazzo.

Szef PMDG stwierdził, że Boeing 737-800NG to naprawdę stary produkt w kontekście oprogramowania wydanego 3,5 roku temu.

– W momencie premiery byliśmy z niego niezmiernie dumni, ale patrząc wstecz, nawet po premierze produktu w maju 2022 roku nie do końca rozumieliśmy, jak wykorzystać potencjał nowej platformy MSFS – dodał.

Modernizacja ma objąć m.in. ulepszony kokpit, nowe oświetlenie, tekstury, zwiększoną interaktywność kokpitu, otwierane drzwi i okna itd. Ponadto nowa wersja Boeinga 737 ma być podstawą planowanego Boeinga 737 MAX 8.

Jak już wspomniano we wstępie, w związku z wydaniem B738 dla Microsoft Flight Simulatora 2024 pojawiły się kontrowersje. Doszło bowiem do wycieku wersji przedpremierowej. PMDG podjęło decyzję o ukaraniu użytkowników, którzy zainstalowali nielegalnie pozyskaną wersję. Stracili oni dostęp do biblioteki wszystkich posiadanych samolotów w aplikacji PMDG OC3. Blokada ma zostać zniesiona dopiero po zakupie Boeinga 737-800NG w pełnej cenie – bez możliwości skorzystania ze zniżki dla posiadaczy starszej wersji.

Premiery Boeinga 737-800NG od PMDG w wersji dla Microsoft Flight Simulatora 2024 jest zaplanowana na 18 grudnia od godz. 17:00 UTC (18:00 czasu polskiego).

All signs point to the Boeing 737-800NG by PMDG debuting later today (December 18) as a native version for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. However, this release is accompanied by significant controversy.

Since announcing work on the new version of the 737-800NG, PMDG has maintained that the product required a fundamental rebuild, and current owners of the aircraft for MSFS 2020 will be offered a paid upgrade. According to PMDG CEO Robert Randazzo, the upgrade price should not exceed the „cost of a few coffees.”

„The 737-800NG for MSFS 2024 is a thorough modernization of our previous product line, built from the ground up to take advantage of the capabilities of MSFS 2024. The core 737 technology package brings all that incredible, professional-grade simulation depth to MSFS 2024 with a focus on the possibilities offered by the new platform,” Randazzo stated.

The PMDG head noted that the Boeing 737-800NG is essentially an „old” product in software terms, having been released 3.5 years ago.

„At the time of release, we were immensely proud of it, but looking back—even after the product launched in May 2022—we didn’t fully understand how to harness the potential of the new MSFS platform,” he added.

The modernization is expected to include an enhanced cockpit, new lighting, updated textures, increased cockpit interactivity, operable doors and windows, and more. Furthermore, this new version of the 737 will serve as the foundation for the upcoming Boeing 737 MAX 8.

The Leak and Disciplinary Measures

As mentioned, the release of the B738 for MSFS 2024 has been marred by controversy due to a pre-release version leak. PMDG has decided to penalize users who installed the illegally obtained version. These individuals have lost access to their entire library of owned aircraft within the PMDG OC3 application. The block will reportedly only be lifted after the user purchases the Boeing 737-800NG at full price—forfeiting the upgrade discount available to owners of the older version.
